Paramount Pictures will release Cirque Du Soleil: Worlds Away in Montréal on Dec 7 in what will be the 3D event’s first North American launch. Separately, Screen Media has taken US rights to Secret Disco Revolution.
The fantasy tale recently opened the Tokyo International Film Festival and opened in Japan on $1.5m on Nov 9.
Andrew Adamson directed and produced alongside Aron Warner, Cirque Du Soleil’s Martin Bolduc and Ed Jones and Cary Granat. Jacques Méthé served as executive producer.
- Screen Media has picked up US rights from eOne Films International to Jamie Kastner’s documentary Secret Disco Revolution and will open theatrically in June. Rights closed previously in Japan with Kadokawa and with Maywin in CIS. ZDF Arte will distribute in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France. Screen Media president Suzanne Blech negotiated with Charlotte Mickie of eOne and Andrew Herwitz of The Film Sales Company.
- Inception Media Group has acquired North American rights to four projects – Christmas With Danny Kaye, Ghost Trap, Junior High Spy and 4 Assassins.
