UK outfit takes Tribeca Best Documentary Feature for UK
UK socially conscious film specialist Dogwoof has picked up all UK rights to Almar Ha’rel’s Sheffield and Tribeca buzz title Bombay Beach, with a release scheduled for early 2012.
The deal was brokered by Dogwoof Head of Distribution Oli Harbottle with Annie Roney and Cristine Dewey of ro*co films international.
Bombay Beach tells the story of the disparate and motley residents of California’s Salton Sea and has been commended for its cinematography and soundtrack, which includes American indie band Beirut and Bob Dylan.
After debuting in Berlin earlier this year, the film picked up the Best Documentary Feature award at Tribeca and received an honourable mention from the jury of the Sheffield documentary festival.
Harbottle commented: “Bombay Beach is one of the most original and exciting documentaries we have seen in recent times and it wows audiences wherever it plays. The whole team here is absolutely thrilled to have the chance to work on a creative campaign to match Alma Har’el’s unique vision.
