EXCLUSIVE: New Select has acquired Japanese rights to the Dutch thriller Taped from Australian sales agent Odin’s Eye Entertainment at Filmart.
Taped is directed by Diederik Van Rooijen and stars Barry Atsma and Susan Visser as a couple revisiting Buenos Aires, where they fell in love, in a last ditch effort to save their marriage.
While fulfilling a promise to their daughter to videotape their vacation, they inadvertently record a murder that puts them in direct conflict with a corrupt police officer.
As reported by Screen about a year ago, US producers Doug Wick and Lucy Fisher, from production company Red Wagon, acquired the English-language remake rights with the backing of Columbia Pictures.
Odin’s Eye principal Michael Favelle is also at Filmart with titles including two films with strong Asian themes: Inseparable, a comedic drama set in China with Kevin Spacey in the lead role; and One Mile Above, which was released theatrically in China as Kora, and is about a young man cycling in Tibet.
