The distributor has acquired Finnish transmedia property Moomins & Midsummer Madness for the US for all rights excluding broadcast. Beverly Hills-based sales agent House Of Film represents rights and is spearheading a global awareness campaign on behalf of the property owners.

Echo Bridge will release Moomins & Midsummer Madness on DVD for the holidays after a broadcast deal closed between Starz and House Of Film.

The Moomins originated more than 65 years ago and the property has spawned a nine-book series, TV episodes, a comic book franchise and merchandising.

The property owners are also planning to broaden the franchise’s appeal with the 3D feature Moomins And The Comet Chase.

Bjork created the theme song and Max von Sydow and Stellan Skarsgaard are among the voice talent. The producers are currently out to US distributors.

The film has been released in France, Finland and Iceland and offers are in from other territories.
