Both films sell to Mongrel for Canada.

Elephant Eye Films has closed several distribution deals for documentary Swell Season and Sebastian Silva’s Old Cats.

Swell Season, about musical duo Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, has sold to Germany, Switzerland and Austria (StudioCanal), Australia (Icon), Korea (Jin Jin), and Canada (Mongrel). The film is now on release in the US via Seven Arts releasing, and sales negotiations are underway in other major territories.

Old Cats has sold to France (Memento), Benelux (ABC/Cinemien), Switzerland (Trigon), South Africa (Ster-Kinekor), Canada (Mongrel), Chile (Jirafa) and Latin pay TV (LapTV). The film opens Dec 15 in Chile, followed by other territories in early 2012.

Elephant Eye Partner David Robinson said,  “We are extremely pleased with the strong international partners who have come on board to release these two special films. We are lucky that in the midst of a tough international climate, our partners continue to support important, thoughtful art house films.”

Elephant Eye’s AFM slate also includes Beyond The Black Rainbow, The Other F Word, and Wasted Youth.
