US alternative content specialist pacts with cinema chain Cinemark on six ballets.
US distributor Emerging Pictures and exhibition chain Cinemark have inked a deal to screen six ballets across 50 Cinemark venues beginning in June.
The ballets will serve as prelude to Cinemark offering the full slate of Emerging’s ‘Ballet in Cinema’ and ‘Opera in Cinema’ programming in the autumn.
Emerging Pictures and Cinemark will present three ballets each from Moscow’s Bolshoi Ballet and London’s Royal Ballet.
Ira Deutchman, Emerging Pictures’ co-managing director, noted: “The Bolshoi and the Royal stand in the front artistic ranks of the world’s most brilliant ballet companies. Ever since Emerging started the ‘Ballet in Cinema’ series, we have received requests from all over the country for access to these performances. Partnering with Cinemark, one of the largest theatre chains in the U.S., provides us an exciting opportunity to bring these outstanding performances to thousands of ballet fans who haven’t been able to see them before.”
