UK distributor eOne has picked up rights to Icelandic thriller Black’s Game from TrustNordisk.
The film, currently in post-production, follows Iceland’s violent organised crime industry in the ’90s.
A recent graduate from Tisch School of the Arts in New York, Óscar Thór Axelsson is both director and script-writer on the film, which is his feature debut.
Producers are Thor Sigurjonsson, Skuli Malmquist and Arnar Knutsson, executive producers are Nicolas Winding Refn and Chris Briggs. The film stars Damon Younger and Thor Kristjansson.
Winding Refn said of the project: “As a fan of the gangster genre I saw in Black’s Game a true freshness that kindled my interest in the gangster genre in the first place.”
TrustNordisk will be shopping the film in Toronto.
