Patrick Ewald’s LA-based Epic Pictures Group has closed a deal with WTW Films in the UK and Ukraine’s Film.UA Group to jointly finance and produce the action adventure Blood & Iron (aka The Rus).

Ewald and COO Shaked Berenson struck the deal with Film.UA Distribution CEO Igor Storchak and WTW Films acquisitions manager Kateryna Vyshnevska.

Production will commence this summer on the medieval Russian story of a Viking who rises to become king and confronts a marauding army. The producers are currently out to cast.
 
“This story has it all — bloodthirsty Vikings, sword fights, battles and a powerful love story,” Ewald said. “It is like Twilight set in a violent Viking world.”
 
Epic Pictures Group is enjoying an enthusiastic response to its apocalyptic epic 11-11-11 and Ewald has signed deals here with Swen for Latin America and SPI for Eastern Europe.
