The filmmakers have set a day-and-date theatrical and streaming release for Oct 11 that utilises Tugg and the horror-thriller’s online fanbase.

Tugg will facilitate the theatrical debut at bespoke screenings on Oct 11 and Oct 31, while director Michael J Gallagher and his co-filmmakers will invite viewers to pre-order Smiley on Jun 29 ahead of a streaming launch through Redux’s Artists platform on Oct 11.

Gallagher expects to mobilise the 11m-strong subscriber base from his YouTube collective Totally Sketch.

Gallagher and Glasgow Phillips co-wrote Smiley and Michael Wormser produced the story about a serial killer who is summoned through the internet. Caitlin Gerard stars.

The film will roll out on digital and VoD platforms at a later date.
