Film Movement has acquired North American rights to Kennth Bi’s Mandarin and Cantonese-language action film The Drummer starring Jackie Chan’s son Jaycee.
The company plans a limited theatrical run in autumn in conjunction with a simultaneous nationwide VOD launch.
The young Chan plays a rebellious young man growing up in his gangster father’s shadow who is forced to strike out alone and discover the Zen world of drumming.
The Drummer has screened at numerous festivals including 2008’s Sundance and Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival.
Film Movement president Adley Gartenstein brokered the deal with Brigitte Suarez of The Match Factory.
