The slate includes IDFA title Heart of Earth, Heart Of Sky and sci fi documentary Lights Over Phoenix, currently in post.
New London based sales company Film Republic will be presenting its inaugural slate at the European Film Market in Berlin.
The slate includes Eric Blauke and Frauke Sandig’s feature documentary Heart of Earth, Heart of Sky, a documentary about the remote homelands of the present day Maya in Mexico and Guatemala. The film screened at IDFA. Also on the slate is Alix Lambert and David McMahon’s US documentary Bayou Blue, about a Louisiana community in which a man murdered 23 people.
It will also be selling sci fi title Lights over Phoenix which is currently in post production and retraces the last days before four hikers mysteriously disappeared, days in the infamous 1997 Phoenix Lights incident.
The new sales company specializes in independent, alternative feature fiction and documentary films.
“This first lineup is a balance between both established and emerging filmmakers, which really grasps what our label is about. We’ll be working on their new titles also, which we expect to announce later in the year,” said Film Republic’s head of sales Xavier Rashid, who previously worked for the Raindance Film Festival.
