EXCLUSIVE: The Film Sales Company president Andrew Herwitz has acquired international sales rights to Dayna Goldfine and Dan Geller’s documentary The Galapagos Affair: When Satan Came To Eden.
The murder mystery story received its world premiere at the Hamptons International Film Festival and investigates through archival footage and home movies the mystery surrounding the fate of three groups of settlers in the 1930s.
Goldfine and Geller produced with Celeste Schaefer Snyder while Jonathan Dana served as executive director.
The film features the voice performances of Cate Blanchett, Diane Kruger, Connie Nielsen, Sebastian Koch, Thomas Kretschmann, Gustaf Skarsgård and Josh Radnor.
As previously announced, Zeitgeist Films acquired US rights after watching a sneak preview at Telluride and plans a spring 2014 theatrical roll out.
“The film is an extraordinary and voyeuristically fascinating thriller, proving once again that truth is stranger than fiction,” said Herwitz.
“Dayna and Dan perform an amazing service by bringing to light this tale, which was huge international news at the time but then, because of WWII and other impediments, was as all but lost to time, until now. Buyers everywhere will surely respond to this virtuoso filmmaking.”
