FilmBuff has orchestrated a VoD release strategy for Jonathan Nossiter’s Toronto 2010 film on VoD starting Aug 30, to be followed by the Nov 15 DVD launch through FilmBuff and MPI Home Video.
Comcast, Time Warner, Cox and Verizon and others will carry the film, which will simultaneously be available to rent or purchase on iTunes, Vudu, Xbox, Playstation, CinemaNow and other broadband platforms.
Bill Pullman, Charlotte Rampling, Irene Jacob, and Fisher Stevens star as expatriates in search of personal satisfaction and social justice.
“Jonathan Nossiter has made a wonderful look at a legendary city, full of characters both diverse and universal,” FilmBuff head of content Matt Dentler said. “We’re excited to work on the American release of Rio Sex Comedy and we’re ready to take people to this amazing locale.”
“Given the radically shifting tides in international distribution, I’m thrilled by the opportunity to have the US premiere of my film in a new media exclusive,” Nossiter said. “The film was forged as a maverick project, so it’s appropriate that it will first reach US audiences through new bandwidths.”
FilmBuff releases include Banksy’s Exit Through The Gift Shop, Janus Metz’s Armadillo and Nice Guy Johnny directed by Edward Burns.
