Fortissimo Films has acquired international rights outside India to Ribhu Das Gupta’s Michael, which will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday.

The psychological drama is presented by Tipping Point Films, which is a division of Viacom18 Motion Pictures. It stars Nasseruddin Shah as a man on a downward moral and emotional spiral and is produced by Anurag Kashyap, Guneet Monga and Sunil Bohra.

“Ribhu is just one of the exciting new generation of filmmakers coming out of India,” said Fortissimo’s Chris Paton. “We’re especially delighted to be working alongside Anurag Kashyap and his team as well as Viacom18 Motion Pictures. They have an exciting vision of new cinema and we share their passion for discovering up and coming talent.”
 
Viacom18 Motion Pictures is collaborating with Kashyap on three projects: Shaitan, Michael and the two-part Gangs Of Waseeypur.
