Tim Burton’s stop-motion animated film will be remastered into the IMAX format ahead of the worldwide day-and-date release through Disney on Oct 5.
This marks the first black-and-white Hollywood feature and stop-motion animated movie to be presented in IMAX.
Frankenweenie: An IMAX 3D Experience features the voices of Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short and Winona Ryder and is a remake of Burton’s 1984 live-action short.
The story centres on a boy who brings his beloved dog back to life — give or take a few minor adjustments. Frankenweenie will shoot in black and white and rendered in 3D. John August wrote the screenplay from an original idea by Burton.
Burton produces with Allison Abbate and Don Hahn serves as executive producer.
