Freestyle Releasing will distribute war documentary The Hornet’s Nest nationwide in theatres on May 23.

David Salzberg and Christian Tureaud directed the film starring real-life father and son journalists Mike and Carlos Boettcher, the Emmy award-winning correspondents embedded with US troops in Afghanistan.

The Boettchers spent two years with the Army on the front lines during a sequence of harrowing combat episodes.

Salzberg and Tureaud of HighRoad Media produced with the Boettchers. John Brenkus and Mickey Stern served as executive producers for Base Productions.

The Hornet’s Nest will platform release on May 9 and 16.
