Celluloid Nightmares has picked up rights to three titles heading into Toronto, including Midnight Madness opener Fubar II.
The international sales partnership between Hengameh Panahi’s Paris-based Celluloid Dreams and Los Angeles-based XYZ Films will represent worldwide rights on the thriller A Horrible Way To Die, North American rights on the documentary Machete Maidens Unleashed!, and international rights on Fubar II.
Mark Hartley’s Machete Maidens Unleashed! will premiere in the Real To Reel programme and celebrates Filipino genre films.
Fubar II, the sequel to cult Canadian comedy, reunites the hard-partying Terry and Dean as they go in search of work at an industrial plant. Michael Dowse wrote and directed.
Playing in Vanguard is A Horrible Way To Die from Adam Wingard about an escaped serial killer who blazes a violent trail across the country in order to find the person responsible for putting him behind bars.
Celluloid Nightmares’ other credits include Simon Rumley’s Red, White & Blue and Norwegian action-comedy Norwegian Ninja.
XYZ Films was founded by Nate Bolotin, Nick Spicer and Aram Tertzakian and partner Todd Brown heads up acquisitions. Celluloid Nightmares’ Travis Stevens is in charge of international sales.
