Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures announced the scheduling on Thursday (13), two months after previewing footage at Comic-Con. Studio sources said they expected the film would play in 3D.

Edwards’ [pictured] follow-up to Monsters sees him direct the iconic genre character from a screenplay by David Callaham, David S Goyer and Max Borenstein.

Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni will produce along with Roy Lee, Dan Lin and Brian Rogers. Alex Garcia and Patricia Whitcher will serve as executive producers alongside Doug Davison, Yoshimitsu Banno and Kenji Okuhira.   

Warner Bros will distribute worldwide except in Japan where Toho Co will distribute.
