Firms unite on Berlin-based VOD service set to launch at the end of the year.
17 German industry firms are teaming to launch a new VOD service currently called Germany’s Gold.
German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF are spearheading the group, which also comprises Beta Film and Telepool.
The launch is subject to approval by the German cartel office.
The service will be headed by a dual management team comprising Antoine Schmidt-Roy, head of online media and member of the management of Studio Hamburg Distribution and Marketing, and media executive Jochen Kröhne.
The platform will showcase the TV and films of all the partners. The portal aims to finance itself through per-view fees, subscriptions and advertising.
