Rainer Matsutani’s horror thriller Room 205, Christian Zübert’s comedy drama Three Quarters Moon and Joseph Vilsmaier’s mountaineering drama Nanga Parbat are among a raft of titles sold by German sales companies at this year’s German Films Previews.
Bavaria Film International sold Room 205 to Colombia’s Babilla Cine in an all-rights deal which includes a dubbed theatrical release, while Cinepool’s Three Quarters Moon was picked up by New Cinema for Israel and Atlas International Film’s Nanga Parbat by Smile Entertainment for Scandinavia.
Cinepool also signed deals for the Second World War family drama Wunderkinder with Cineplex (Taiwan) and for the family film sequel Lilly TheWitch 2 – The Journey To Mandolan with Estin Film (Estonia).
Estin Film also secured rights to another family film Oliver Diekmann’s When Santa Fell To Earth [pictured] from Sola Media. Based on the book by bestseller author Cornelia Funke, the live-action film with animated characters will be released theatrically in Germany by Constantin Film on Nov 24.
Meanwhile, Atrix Films reported sales at the Previews for Anna Justice’s Remembrance to Japan (Crest) and Korea as well as being in negotiations for a North American sale on the feature documentary In The Beginning There Was Light which has been sold to Japan, ex-Yugoslavia and Poland.
In addition to sales to China and the CIS territories for Tim Fehlbaum’s Hell, Beta Cinema concluded a deal for Lessons Of A Dream with French distributor Swift and is in negotiations for Italy, and Eastern European and Asian territories. Starring Daniel Brühl as the young school teacher Konrad Koch who introduced football to Germany, Sebastian Grobler’s feature debut will have its international premiere in competition at the Montreal World Film Festival later this month.
