EXCLUSIVE; German sales company boards drama starring Binoche, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and U2 drummer Larry Mullen Jr.
German sales outfit Global Screen has boarded drama A Thousand Times Good Night, which is currently in production.
Juliette Binoche and Headhunters actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau star in Norwegian director Erik Poppe’s drama which also features U2 drummer Larry Mullen Jr and Maria Boyle Kennedy.
Inspired by Poppe’s own experiences as a war photographer in the 1980s, the film charts the story of a photographer, played by Binoche, torn between her job and her family.
Scripted by Poppe with Norwegian writer Harald Rosenløw Eeg, the $7 million project is packaged in collaboration with Ireland’s Newgrange Pictures and Zentropa International Sweden. Norway’s Euforia Film will release domestically in autumn 2013.
The film will shoot in Ireland, Morocco, Kenya and Afghanistan, for Norwegian producer Finn Gjerdrum’s Paradox.
Mullen Jr, Oscar nominated for Best Original Song for Gangs of New York, plays a family friend. He made his acting debut in Mary McGuckian’s 2011 drama Man on the Train.
Global Screen’s AFM slate includes market debuts for animation 7 Dwarves - The 7th Dwarf and drama Ludwig II alongside Sandra Nettelbeck’s drama Mr Morgan’s Last Love starring Michael Caine and Clemence Poesy and animation Niko 2 - Little Brother, Big Trouble.
