UK sales outfit Goldcrest is at the AFM with Troll Hunter director Andre Ovredal’s anticipated English-language debut The Autopsy of Jane Doe as well as two prestige documentaries.
Goldcrest will fully finance The Autopsy of Jane Doe, a psychological horror about father and son coroners who receive a mysterious homicide victim.
Based on an original screenplay by Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing, producers are Fred Berger, Eric Garcia, Rory Aitken and Ben Pugh.
Set to shoot this winter, the film marks a return to production for Goldcrest, which in recent years has focused on sales and distribution, especially of documentaries.
Spearheaded by managing director Pascal Degove, former head of international at EuropaCorp, Goldcrest will also be shopping buzzed-about documentary The Square about the ongoing struggle within Egypt.
A work in progress at Sundance, the film won an Audience Award despite being unfinished at the time and went on to win the equivalent award at Toronto.
Also on the slate is Korengal from Restrepo director Sebastian Junger, which is screening as a market premiere.
Korengal picks up where Oscar-nominated Restrepo left off, with Junger continuing to explore the Afghanistan conflict.
