Leading indie/arthouse distributor Golem has picked up Spanish rights to several Cannes award winners, including Aussie director Michael Rowe’s Camera D’Or winner Leap Year from Pyramide and Xavier Beauvois’ Grand Prix winner Of Gods And Men from Wild Bunch.
Golem also picked up the best screenplay award winner Poetry, directed by Lee Chang-dong, and Pablo Trapero’s new thriller Carancho, starring Ricardo Darin, both from FineCut, as well as Nikita Mikhalkov’s WWII drama Exodus - Burnt By The Sun 2 from Wild Bunch and Brillante Mendoza’s drama Lola from The Match Factory.
In separate news, Golem is also opening a new multiplex in Bilbao, Spain with eight screens, all of which will be fitted with digital projectors, including two with 3D equipment.
