Ambitious VOD distributor Gravitas Ventures has acquired all North American VOD rights to Madeleine Sackler’s documentary The Lottery.
The film will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 29 and will then open in theatres on June 11 through Variance Films on June 11 and will be available on VOD on July 8.
In The Lottery, four Harlem children’s lives intersect at a high-stakes lottery. Winning means access to one of the top elementary schools in New York. Losing may mean being trapped in some of the worst schools in America. James Lawler produced.
“In our continuing effort to deliver quality, independent documentaries to a broader audience, The Lottery is a significant film that raises the issues surrounding America’s education system,” Gravitas Ventures founder and CEO Nolan Gallagher said.
“Film-making teams are increasingly collaborating with Gravitas Ventures to reach nationwide audiences and this inventive release strategy combining a film festival, an in-theatre experience and Video on Demand is a powerful combination to share the message of this touching film.”
