IFC Midnight has acquired all rights for North America, Malaysia and Singapore to writer-directors Adrian and Ramiro Garcia Bogliano’s Penumbra, which had its world premiere this week at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas.
Set in Argentina on the day of a solar eclipse, the thriller about a beautiful lawyer and a decrepit apartment building stars Cristina Brondo, Camila Bordonaba and Berta Muniz. It was executive produced by Horacio and Esteban Mentasti and Alberto Trigo.
Jonathan Sehring, president of Sundance Selects/IFC Films, said: “We’ve been big fans of Adrian and Ramiro Garcia Bogliano since we saw Cold Sweat. We’re thrilled to be in business with them on Penumbra, which shows them only growing stronger as filmmakers.”
The deal was negotiated by Jeff Deutchman, manager of acquisitions and productions for Sundance Selects/IFC Films and Nate Bolotin of XYZ Films.
