Park City premieres Certain Women and The Greasy Strangler have found US homes.
IFC Films has acquired US rights from UTA Independent Film Group to Kelly Reichardt’s Certain Women.
Reichardt wrote and directed the Sundance Premieres selection based on the short stories of Maile Meloy. The cast includes Laura Dern, Kristen Stewart, Michelle Williams, James Le Gros, Jared Harris, Lily Gladstone, and René Auberjonois.
Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions’ Stage 6 Films acquired worldwide rights prior to the start of production and will distribute internationally.
FilmRise has picked up North American rights from CAA to Jim Hosking’s feature directorial debut The Greasy Strangler, which premiered in the Midnight section in Park City and will screen as a ‘Festival Favorite’ in SXSW.
FilmRise will collaborate with Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas in a multi-market theatrical partnership to release the film, about the owner of a disco walking tour and his son who vie for the attentions of a young woman as an oily killer stalks the streets.
Protagonist Pictures handles international sales.
