The genre label said last night [14] it was in the process of acquiring North American rights to Ben Wheatley’s Down Terrace follow-up which screens in Austin in the SX Fantastic sidebar.
The Warp X/Rook Film production was made under the auspices of Film4 and the scrapped UK Film Council in association with Screen Yorkshire.
Wheatley and Amy Jump wrote the screenplay about a haunted former soldier’s descent into paranoia as he works as a contract killer.
Neil Maskell, Michael Smiley and MyAnna Buring star. Claire Jones and Andy Starke produced and Film4’s Katherine Butler served as executive producer.
Wheatley’s debut Down Terrace won numerous awards including best feature at Fantastic Fest, Raindance and Boston.
Senior vice-president of acquisitions and productions for Sundance Selects/IFC Films Arianna Bocco brokered the deal with Protagonist CEO Ben Roberts.
