IndiePix has acquired Shirin Neshat’s Venice Silver Lion winner Women Without Men and will release in Los Angeles on April 9.
The film, a drama about the lives of four women set against the backdrop of the CIA-backed Iranian coup in 1953, will roll out in New York in mid-May.
IndiePix president and Bob Alexander and Krysanne Katsoolis negotiated the deal with Fionnuala Jamison and Phillipe Bober of the Co-Production Office on behalf of the film.
The announcement follows hot on the heels of screenings at the New Directors/New Films Festival at the Film Society Of Lincoln Center in New York.
“Women Without Men is visually arresting,” Alexander said. “Every frame is a powerful image that draws us into the story with its beauty and every scene engages us in the human drama of individual and social struggles.”
