The Sundance deals continued to trickle in on Tuesday [Feb 21] as Indomina announced it had acquired rights to Bart Layton’s directorial debut and was planning a 2012 theatrical release.
The Imposter uses interviews and reconstructions to recount the labyrinthine story of a man who pretends to be a Texan family’s missing 13-year-old son.
The film is an A&E IndieFilms, Film4 and Channel 4 presentation of a RAW Production in association with Red Box Films and Passion Pictures. A+E Networks retains TV rights.
Dimitri Doganis produced and executive producers were John Battsek, Simon Chinn, A&E IndieFilms’ Bob DeBitetto and Molly Thompson, Katherine Butler of Film4 and Tabitha Jackson of Channel 4.
Josh Braun of Submarine Entertainment and CAA negotiated the deal on behalf of the filmmakers with Indomina’s vp of acquisitions Rob Williams.
Protagonist holds international rights and closed a UK deal at Sundance with Picturehouse Entertainment and Revolver.
