French sales outfit Film Distribution will handle sales on the new Brillante Mendoza project Captured, which stars French acting legend Isabelle Huppert. The film is being produced through Swift Productions.
Huppert headlines the cast of Captured alongside Katherine Mulville, Marc Zanetta, Maria Isabel Lopez and Rustica Carpio.
The film tells the story of Therese Bourgoine, a French volunteer humanitarian on the island of Palawan in the Philippines, who is kidnapped by an extremist group of Muslim men fighting for the independence of Muslim Mindanao, the “Abu Sayyaf Group” (ASG).
“I am very excited to work again with Brillante Mendoza, one of the most famous Asian directors, on his next movie Captured and Isabelle Huppert, one of the most talented and world famous French actresses. I am very grateful of Films Distribution support on this ambitious film,” said Didier Costet, CEO of Swift.
“We have been following Brillante Mendoza’s work from the beginning, every movie has been more impressive than the previous one and we feel extremely lucky to come on board as the international sales company for Captured, his next movie,” said Nicolas Brigaud Robert of Films Distribution. “We believe that this is a story with strong international potential and we feel that Isabelle Huppert brings European marquee value to this Asian movie.”
Filipino director Mendoza won a Best Director award in Cannes for his film, Kinatay. His most recent film Lola screened in Venice.
