ITV Studios Global Entertainment has snapped up Miramax’s head of sales (EMEA).
Dan Gopal has been appointed senior vice president and director of global digital media and home entertainment for ITVS GE.
He will report to Jean-Philippe Randisi, executive vice president of consumer producers, and will be responsible for overseeing ITVS GE’s global home entertainment business. Gopal will work with the TV and DVD sales team to maximise digital sales.
Randisi said: “We’re looking to build on our position as one of the UK’s leading home entertainment publishers by expanding both internationally and across digital platforms.
“Dan’s experience with both broadcasters and digital platforms will be an asset in helping us to grow in an increasingly platform-agnostic landscape, in which the traditional divisions between physical and digital media and TV and home entertainment have become less relevant for consumers.”
In his role at Miramax, Gopal worked with the management team to establish the firm’s European distribution business and operations following the acquisition of the company from Disney.
This included setting up the London head office, building direct relationships with broadcasters and partners around the world and leading the commercial negotiations with key TV and digital platforms in EMEA for the library of 700 feature films.
Prior to this, Dan held a range of roles at The Walt Disney Company (EMEA) - most recently head of video, digital media distribution, EMEA at Disney Media Distribution.
