Austin Chick’s female revenge tale premiered in Austin in the Midnighters strand on Friday night (9) and stars Danielle Panabaker and Nicole LaLiberte.
The story follows a student who enlists the support of a nightclub bartender after she is sexually assaulted and goes on a vengeful spree. Aimee Shieh and Clay Floren produced.
K5 founder Oliver Simon and Daniel Baur announced the acquisition on Sunday. Paradigm’s Ben Weiss represents US sales.
“As a filmmaker, it’s great to be joining such good company in the form of K5’s Cannes slate,” Chick said.
Girls Against Boys is the first film from Manhattan-based Floren Shieh Productions. The company is in post-production on sci-fi drama The Proxy from director Dan Bush and producer Alex Motlagh, the team behind Sundance 2007 entry The Signal.
Last week Screen reported that K5 had picked up sales rights to SXSW entry King Kelly.
