Sally El Hosaini’s drama won awards in Sundance and at the recent London Film Festival.
K5 International has taken on international sales for Sally El Hosaini’s debut feature My Brother The Devil.
This weekend, El Hosaini, a former Screen International Star of Tomorrow, won the Best British Newcomer at the BFI London Film Festival.
The film also won prizes in Sundance and Berlin.
Verve Pictures releases in the UK starting in November.
The story of two British Egyptian brothers growing up in London stars Fady Elsayed, James Floyd (another Screen Star) and Saïd Tagmaoui.
Producer Julia Godzinskaya said: “We look forward to working with K5 who are as passionate about the film as we are.”
Carl Clifton, head of sales at K5, added: “It’s a rare gem of a film that will surprise and seduce. Sally El Hosaini is clearly one of the UK’s most exciting talents and we’re thrilled to be establishing a relationship with her and the film’s really talented producers, and to be taking her work out to the global market where we know it will resonate.”
My Brother The Devil is a Wild Horses Film Company and Rooks Nest Entertainment production in association with Film Clinic, produced by Gayle Griffiths, Julia Godzinskaya, Michael Sackler and executive produced by El Hosaini and Mohamed Hefzy. Pacha Pictures previously held the sales rights.
