K5 brings Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern’s punk-dance doc to Cannes, plans screening with 2 Many DJs set.

K5 has added LCD Soundsystem documentary Shut Up and Play the Hits to its Cannes slate.

The film follows singer-songwriter James Murphy and the group to its final gig at Madison Square Garden on 2 April 2011.  It  had its world premiere at Sundance.

K5 will screen the film during an event at French magazine Les InRocks’ villa during Cannes in partnership with French telecom brand SOSH. The event will also feature a live set from 2 Many DJs.

Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace direct, Lucas Ochoa and Thomas Benski of Pulse Films produce alongside Murphy. Pulse Films were also behind documentary No Distance Left To Run, following the brief reunion of UK band Blur in 2009.

“SUAPTH will have cinema audiences up and out of their seats around the world. LCD’s music means a great deal to musicians and clubbers internationally and the band’s impact will remain strong through both their music and this beautiful love letter of a film,” said K5’s co-founders Oliver Simon and Daniel Baur.
