Directed by Alan G Parker, Hello Quo charts the 50 year career of British rock band Status Quo.
K5 has picked up international sales rights to Hello Quo, a documentary about the 50 year career of British rock band Status Quo.
The film, which is completed, charts the origins of the band in 1962 to its current status as one of the UK’s most successful bands with total worldwide album sales topping 120 million.
It is directed by Alan G Parker – whose credits include documentaries Never Mind The Sex Pistols, and Monty Python: Almost The Truth, which earned him an Emmy nomination in 2010.
Alexa Morris is producing the documentary, which includes appearances by Brian May of Queen, Thin Lizzy, The Buzzcocks, Slade, Paul Weller of The Jam.
“We’re excited that we’ve now made the leap from gold discs to the silver screen all over the world. For a rock band that’s a lot of metal,” says The Quo’s Rick Parfitt and Francis Rossi. “This truly is the definitive look at our career to date and will be a great ride for both our fans and for those who have yet to discover us after 50 years!”
The deal was negotiated by K5 co-founding partner Daniel Baur who said of the acquisition: “Quo are part of the soundtrack to so many people’s lives.”
K5 head of sales and partner Carl Clifton added “They still rock like no other band. Hello Quo is testament to that. It’s also fascinatingly revealing, moving and hysterically funny.”
