Film Movement has taken North American rights to Keren Yedaya’s Hebrew language Jaffa.
Yedaya’s follow-up to her 2004 Cannes Camera d’Or winner Or will open in limited theatrical release and launch on VOD in the late summer.
Jaffa centres on the tensions that arise as a secret wedding approaches between a Palestinian employee and his Israeli boss’ daughter.
Film Movement’s president Adley Gartenstein and vice president Meghan Wurtz negotiated the deal with Sebastien Chesneau of Rezo Films.
“Director Keren Yedaya, with only two feature films under her belt, has already managed to make a name for herself, not just as one of the most respected contemporary Israeli film-makers, but as an extremely talented director to watch out for in the international scene,” Gartenstein said.
