The King’s Speech, riding high on its Bafta triumph on Sunday night, has crossed $100m overseas and will reach $200m worldwide today [16].
FilmNation, enjoying a productive EFM here where Glen Basner has completed all major sales on Gambit and WettestCounty, licensed foreign rights to The King’s Speech and revealed the film grossed a further $13.1m over the weekend to boost the international running total to $105.3m.
Combined with the $93.7m North American tally it had amassed $199.3m worldwide by Tuesday.
After six weeks The King’s Speech has grossed a staggering $52.3m in the UK and stands at $22.1m in Australia after eight. It opens in Germany and Mexico this weekend.
Meanwhile FilmNation’s underwater adventure Sanctum grossed $11.6m to reach an early $22.3m international running total. It was the number one film in Brazil in its second week on $3.7m and stands at $2.7m in the UK after 10 days.
