Kiefer Sutherland, starring here in Lars von Trier’s Melancholia, and Kate Bosworth are lined up to play lovers in Fairytale Of New York, which The Little Film Company has introduced to buyers here.

Lee Cleary will direct from a screenplay by Jeff Murphy about a cynical Irish stand-up and an enigmatic young woman who form an instant bond when they meet in an art gallery.

Lisa Katselas and Dan Reardon are producing and the film will shoot in Northern Ireland and New York.

Bosworth was most recently seen in Another Happy Day, which Phase 4 just picked up for North American distribution, and has wrapped production on comedy L!fe Happens. She next appears in the remake of Straw Dogs.

“Fairytale Of New York lets us observe what most of us hope for in a relationship and then it takes us further, much further,” Katselas said.
