Lorber Films has acquired all North American theatrical and DVD rights to the cinema documentaries AmericanGrindhouse and Nightmares In Red, White And Blue.
Both films have played at South By Southwest, Sitges and Deauville and Lorber Films plans to release the duo in additional markets, film festivals and specialty theatres.
The theatrical run starts in June at a series of college venues for the exploitation history American Grindhouse and in July for horror documentary Nightmares In Red, White And Blue.
Kino Lorber co-president Richard Lorber and vice-president Elizabeth Sheldon negotiated the deal with producer and financier Lux Digital Pictures.
“We’re a cinephile company whose collection encompasses everything from cult genre to high art,” Lorber said. “And these two docs hit our sweet spot with a really smart look at the most popular forms of entertainment in a broader cultural context. Plus, they’re a gas to watch.”
