Lorber Films has taken US rights to Danish director Janus Metz’ controversial documentary Armadillo.
Metz was embedded with Danish troops in Afghanistan and chronicles their actions as they engage with Taliban troops in the Helmand province.
The film sparked furious debate in Denmark and an inquiry by the government into the actions of the soldiers.
Armadillo screened in Critics’ Week in Cannes and won the Grierson Award at the London Film Festival. Richard Lorber negotiated the deal with Susan Wendt of TrustNordisk.
