Lorber Films has acquired all US rights to Toronto-bound Le Quattro Volte from Italian director Michelangelo Frammartino (The Gift).
Kino Lorber co-president and CEO Richard Lorber brokered the deal with Fionnuala Jamison of Coproduction Office.
Frammartino’s four-part meditation on man and nature traces the grand cycle of life through the humble daily rituals of rural folk in the hilly southern Italian region of Calabria.
“Le Quattro Volte is sure to be one of the classics of tomorrow,” Lorber said. “It’s a brilliant integration of the rich traditions of neorealist Italian cinema and transcendental visionary film-making.
“We are ecstatic to herald Michelangelo Frammartino’s work into the fall festival season and connect US audiences to this new auteur of major importance.”
