Benelux distributor Lumiere’s new sales arm, Lumiere International Sales, is at its first Cannes Market with a promo of its first major project, Phantom Boy, the latest animated feature from Jean-Loup Felicioli and Alain Gagnol (A Cat In Paris) Lumiere is coproducing the film and will also release it in Benelux. Diaphana will be handling the French release.
The Lumiere sales strategy for €4 million Phantom Boy is to close pre-sales in the run-up to the film’s completion, which will be in 2014.
Also on Lumiere’s sales slate is Peter Monsaert’s thriller Offline and various library titles, among them Meisje by Dorothee Van Den Berghe.
Here in Cannes, Lumiere boss Jan De Clercq has revealed that the company is continuing to generate huge sales on its acquisitions of Scandinavian crime drama.
Now, the company is branching out. It recently snapped up Real Humans, the new Scandinavian drama series being sold by News Corporation-owned Shine Group.
