EXCLUSIVE: M-Appeal closes deal on Veit Helmer film Baikonur with Spanish outfit Pirámide Films Distribución.
On the eve of the EFM, young Berlin-based sales outfit M-Appeal has closed a Spanish deal on its Veit Helmer film Baikonur with Spanish outfit Pirámide Films Distribución.
The film is on the company’s EFM slate and is screening in the festival’s German cinema section, LOLA@Berlinale.
M-Appeal arrives in Berlin with a handful of new projects, among them its most recent acquisition, Electrick Children. The film, directed by Rebecca Thomas and starring Rory Culkin and Billy Zane, is a world premiere in Generation14Plus. M-Appeal is handling international sales. Paradigm is handling North America.
The film’s US premiere will be in South By Southwest. All territories are available. This marks M-Appeal’s second pick-up of a US indie title after Mark Jackson’s Without (picked up after Locarno).
Also new on the M-Appeal slate is King Of Comics, the latest feature from Rosa von Praunheim.
M-Appeal’s The Clay Diaries by Isaki Lacuesta (which screened in Rotterdam last month) has just received the Best Documentary at the
FIPA in Biarritz.
