Midway through the market, Media Luna has taken international rights to three new films.
One is Begian director Fien Troch’s Kid. The film, produced by Antonino Lombardo for his Brussels-based production outfit Prime Time, is Troch’s third feature, following Someone Else’s Happiness and Unspoken.
The film is about a happy seven-year-old who feels safe and loved by his mother who faces the challenges of single parenthood. When she dies, Kid has to face the fears and anxieties of this world. The film is completed and is being targeted at a later summer, early autumn festival.
Another new pick-up is Darezhan Omirbayev’s Student (screening in Un Certain Regard) which has already been sold to France (Las Acacias.) The film is based on Dostoyevsky’s classic novel, Crime And Punishment.
The third new acquisition is Jacco Groen’s Lillet Never Happened starring Sandy Talag and Johanna ter Steege. This is about a young performer and streetwalker in The Netherlands.
