EXCLUSIVE: French sales company Memento saw strong demand for its slate at the EFM and has tied up further deals on Competition entry Sister and the next films from Laurent Cantet, Agnes Jaoui and Jim Mickle.
Memento Films International has closed new deals on Ursula Meier’s Berlin Competition entry Sister with Australia (Palace), Spain (Alta Classic), Austria (Thin Film), Greece (Seven Films), Sweden (Folkets Bio), Norway (Europa), Brazil (Esfera Filmes) and Iran (IRIB).
Meier’s drama received a special mention from the Cannes jury and has already sold to US (Adopt Film) and UK (Soda). The cast includes Lea Seydoux, Gillian Anderson, Martin Compston and Kacey Mottet Klein.
Laurent Cantet’s Foxfire, the director’s first film since Oscar-nominated The Class, is currently in post but closed further deals in Italy (Teodora), Brazil (Imovision), CIS (Maywin), Greece (Seven Films), Argentina (Energia Entusiasta) and Venezuela (Cines Unidos), while among film’s in pre-production, Jim Mickle’s We Are What We Are has also pre-sold to Germany (Koch Media) and Agnes Jaoui’s Under The Rainbow tempted buyers in Austria (FilmLaden), Brazil (Providence) and South Korea (Sponge).
Pen-ek Rantanaruang’s Panorama entry Headshot has sold to Australia (Madman), Germany (Koch Media) and Norway (Europa) while Elles, also from Panorama, was picked up in CIS (Maywin), Bulgaria (Pal 20) and Venezuela (Cines Unidos). Forum entry For Ellen went to Benelux (O’Brother), South Korea (Line Tree – Lumix) and Poland (Vivarto).
Back title sales included A Separation to China (Media Asia) and Bulgaria (Pal 20), Woman in the Fifth to Japan (Nettai Museum) and The Monk also to Japan (Alcine Terran).
Memento is also handling sales on Cate Shortland’s Lore.
