Memento picks up The Monk

Memento Films has acquired Dominik Moll’s latest project, The Monk, which begins shooting Monday in Spain. The gothic suspense thriller stars Vincent Cassel, Deborah Francois, Geraldine Chaplin and Sergi Lopez.

Shot on a Euros 11m budget, Moll’s fourth feature is adapted from the English gothic novel of the same name and was co-written by Anne-Louise Trividic. The cult novel tells the story of the rise and fall of Capuchin Monk Ambrosio who finds himself struggling with temptation.

Produced by Michel Saint-Jean for Diaphana , The Monk is co-produced by Morena Films. Memento is handling international sales and Diaphana will release in France.
