Midway through the market, leading arthouse sales agent Memento Films International has reported brisk sales on its EFM titles.
Memento’s US remake of cult cannibal picture We Are What We Are has gone to Entertainment One for the UK and Canada. Other territories are expected to follow shortly.
Ursula Meier’s Competition title Sister has sold to Benelux (O Brother), UK (Soda), Italy (Teodora) and Israel (Lev Films). Laurent Cantet’s Foxfire has gone to Lev in Israel, to Energia Entusiasta for Argentina, to Imovision in Brazil and to Non Stop Entertainment in Scandinavia.
Elles starring Juliette Binoche has sold to Italy (officineubu), Russia (Maywin), Mexico (Mantaraya), Japan (Klockworx), and Turkey (Kurmaca).
Cate Shortland’s Lore (being readied in time for Cannes) has sold to Lev for Israel.
Headshot, Pen-ek Ratanaruang ‘s new film, screening in Panorama, has been sold to Madman for Australia.
Another Memento title, For Ellen, screening in the Forum, has gone to Calinos in Turkey. The film will be released by Soda Pictures in the UK. (Soda also handled So Yong Kim’s previous film, Treeless Mountain.)
Rodrigo Pla’s The Delay (La Demora) in Forum – handled by Memento label Artscope – has sold to Epicentre for France.
