UK based sales company Metropolis International Sales has closed multiple deals on John Michael McDonagh’s The Guard (screening in Panorama.)

Deals have been signed with UK (Optimum), Ireland (Element Pictures), France (SND), Italy (Eagle Pictures), German Speaking Europe and Switzerland (Ascot Elite), Australia and New Zealand (Transmission), Canada (Alliance Atlantis Releasing) Eastern Europe (Freeman), Benelux (Entertainment One), Middle East (Phars), Scandinavia (Scanbox), Portugal (Lusomundo), CIS (CP Digital), Eastern Europe (Freeman), and Airlines (Jaguar Distribution).

The film, well received in Sundance where it was snapped up by Sony Classics for the US and Latin America, stars Brendan Gleeson as an unorthodox Irish policeman who joins forces with a straight-laced FBI agent, played by Don Cheadle to take on an international drug-smuggling gang.

The Guard is produced by Reprisal Film’s Chris Clark and Flora Fernandez Marengo and Element Pictures Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe.
