David Garrett’s new sales outfit Mister Smith, a joint venture with Constantin, has seen strong demand for Natascha Kampusch drama 3,096 Days.
Market buyers include South Korea (Bloomage), Eastern Europe (Media Pro), Hong Kong (Lark/UA Films), Baltics (Acme), India (PVR), Israel (United King), Latin America (Sun Distribution), Middle East (Jaguar), Philippines (Pioneer), Poland (Monolith), Singapore (Shaw), South Africa (Nu Metro), Croatia/Slovenia (Blitz), Taiwan, (Long Shong) and Thailand (Sahamongkol).
Former Screen Star of Tomorrow Antonia Campbell-Hughes stars in the true story of Kampusch’s 3,096 day imprisonment in a dark, windowless cellar. Martin Scorsese regular Michael Ballhaus is lighting the drama directed by Sherry Hormann. Shooting is currently underway in Germany.
Kampusch has advised on the script.
Sales and finance outfit Mister Smith will be adding a number of pieces to its operation in the coming months. Garrett told Screen: “We’re aiming to do 6-8 films with theatrical pedigree per year. Over the summer I’ll be building a team and forging working relationships with two or three other producer entities.”
Garrett has all but sold out on the first instalment in young adult fantasy franchise Mortal Instruments.
