Music Box Films has acquired all US rights to Michel Hazanavicius’ OSS 117 – Lost In Rio (pictured).
Partners Edward Arentz and William Schopf have set a May 14 theatrical release for the ongoing adventures of the clueless spy played by Jean Dujardin.
The sequel to the French smash OSS 117: Cairo Nest Of Spies finds the secret agent travelling across Brazil in 1967 with a beautiful Israeli agent on the trail of a high-ranking Nazi.
“Dujardin’s OSS 117 starts where Peter Seller’s Inspector Clouseau left off in satirising a certain species of French chauvinism, ethnic insensitivity, wanton womanising and general foolishness,” Schopf said.
Arentz and Schopf negotiated the deal with Cecile Gaget and Loic Trocme of international sales agent Gaumont.
Upcoming releases for Music Box include Scandinavian blockbuster The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and recent acquisition Mesrine starring Vincent Cassel.
